According to the publisher, Trigger Happy – A Visual Celebration of Video Game Controllers is “the story of 200 of the most important and fascinating game controllers, which gathers everything from stock pads and high-end fightsticks to branded novelty joysticks and misguided oddities.” And oh my, did they cover them well. This kept with just primary-type controllers, no DDR, no light guns, no Sega Fishing controller, or other funky stuff (but I would love for there to be such a book).
The book spends anywhere from 2 to 4 pages on each controller, possibly including variants, sometimes with full-page graphics, sometimes just a smaller 1/3rd-of-a-page picture, with the text and visuals striking, totally even on the smartphone and tablet reading I did. At this point, I can only imagine how much more striking the printed book is but it’s gotta be awesome!
For instance, check out this CH Products Mach II that I lovingly remember from my Apple ][c days. Great description of it made me remember it so much, now I’m looking to find one to hook up to my ][c that I picked up a couple years ago at the Vintage Computer Festival Midwest!
At $45 plus shipping, Bitmap Books would love for you to order it from them at https://www.bitmapbooks.com/products/trigger-happy-a-visual-celebration-of-video-game-controllers
