Stern Releases Pokemon Pinball Machine

Earlier today, Stern Pinball confirmed the existence of a Pokémon Pinball table and immediately made it available to order. While the Pokémon franchise is a broad one spanning decades, the Stern table is noteworthy for hearkening back to the 90s era of the franchise. All the Pokémon immediately visible in the trailer hail from the first generation of games which were released in 1996.

The visual and musical style of the table also appears to be directly influenced by the earliest iteration of the Pokémon cartoon. Visual clips on the interface appear to derive from the initial 90s era cartoon. Additionally, the Pokémon theme from the earliest days of the cartoon as sung by Jason Paige features prominently throughout the trailer.

The gameplay itself centers around catching Pokémon across four habitats. It was not immediately clear from the initial press release how many Pokémon will appear in the table. Pokémon has been used with a pinball concept before, with Pokémon Pinball from 1999 for the Game Boy Color and Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire for the Game Boy Advance in 2003 both being beloved retro titles.
